i’ve been busy . . .

oh well for excuses as to why i haven’t written since Day One.  i’ve been attempting to conquer my list. 27 things.

2.  core fusion.  i’ve switched to yoga, hip hop and running.  i’m up to 4-5 times each week, and i’ve been working out consistantly for 4 solid months. and i’m not exaggerating.  ok, so in the past i’ve lied to my doctor — you know the “how often do you work out” question, i usually fib a little and tell them more than usual.  but this is all for real. Yay.

4.  launch a new business.  done and done. www.maybooksonline.com.  i’m revamping the website, so please forgive it’s simplicity.  i’ll have a new one by next week.  what a fun new company, i’m simply having a blast with it!

7.  hip hop.  go powerhouse of dallas.  gotta love Gino.

9.  burning candles.  found this great one at urban outfitters for $12.  i’m addicted.

13.  golf.  i’ve been “practicing” my swing, err.. attempting to hit over 150 yards . . .and have been testing out various clubs at golf galaxy.  looks like i’m a callaway big bertha kind of gal.  i seem to love those.

11.  website.  she’s finally done! www.micamaydesign.com.  prob. my favorite thing done off the list this year!

16.  make-up.  well, considering i had to buy All New makeup, brushes, curling iron, etc. because mine was stolen off the street at 5am . . . i think i’m doing okay here.  it was a sad day.

18.  paper dork.  going to a paper seminar on may 16th at clampitt paper.  it’s okay — they’re paper people.  i’m SUCH a dork for this.  but what can i say? it truly helps my business.

1.  books.  i’ve been cranking them out.  i’ve even thrown in a few others in the mix, but they are pretty much “non books” so i won’t mention those.  (for ex: shopaholic takes manhattan.  see?  a non-book.  i told you.)

jan.  Free Publicity.  this was a quick but useful read about how to gain PR for your company.

feb.  Eat. Pray. Love.  i do like oprah, but i’m not a freak about her or anything.  i really liked this book — it was a nice crossover between entertaining and inspiring.  now i want to travel!  oh wait . . . that’s ALWAYS been the case.

mar.  Searching for God Knows What.  this was much better than blue like jazz (in my humble opinion).  it was a lot less bitter and i found myself nodding at several of his points.  i loved his little blurb about communion . . . it’s pretty much how i view.  anywhere there is wine and food (preferably cheese!) and friends, it’s a perfect time to give thanks and celebrate the goodness of God and His sacrifice for us.

april.  Cold Tangerines.  thanks rachel for the recommendation!!  this was such a fun read.  i feel like i was writing the book myself at several points and it made me smile a lot.  Loved It.

27 things when i’m 27

so i know you are all on the edge of your seat . . . i suppose since it’s nearly march, i should finally post the 27 things i plan to do now that i am 27.  yay!

  1. FINISH a book each month
  2. get in shape.  finally.  core fusion baby.
  3. have fun in the car like i used to. (drive with my windows down, loud music, dancing, etc.)
  4. launch one of my new business ideas.
  5. cook a little more adventurously.
  6. smile more.
  7. start taking hip hop classes again.
  8. travel somewhere to visit a friend — for no reason other than visiting them in the place they call home!
  9. light more candles at home, just for fun.
  10. create photo books for life before marriage.
  11. get my website up and running (www.micamaydesign.com) and begin a blog.
  12. design and order our wedding alblum in time for our 3rd year anniversary.
  13. golf with hubby at least once a month (pending good weather of course).
  14. be a little more daring in regards to fashion — care a little less about people’s perception of me and my wardrobe.
  15. make our bed everyday — including all the fancy pillows.  i’ve gotten lazy about this.
  16. feel confident about doing my makeup — more on some days, less on others, maybe even none one of these days . . . (that’s for you, Love)
  17. clean out my inbox.  i never delete e-mails, so i’m now at the daunting task of deleting 20,000.  yay.
  18. learn more about paper.  there is a paper/design/print production workshop i’m totally psyched about (which i realize qualifies me as an Official Nerd), but i can’t wait.
  19. move my starbucks “drip coffee” from a grande to a tall in a grande cup.  if i do this, i’ll save $37.44 for the year (if i ordered coffee 3x a week, which i don’t even do that.)  hey.  every little bit counts.
  20. Dallas Design on a Dime.  it’s an idea from HGTV that i want to do with a few friends here sometime in the spring/summer . . . more details on this to come later.
  21. update picture frames around our house with current photos at least 3 times a year.  which seems a lot since we don’t have any cute kiddos yet to brag on!  it’s just us. ha.
  22. love my husband with acts of service more often.
  23. keep in touch more with friends i love dearly that are long distance.  you know who you are!
  24. drink a little red wine paired with a bit of dark chocolate to end my evenings as many days out of the year as i can.  shouldn’t everyone do this! HELLO antioxidants!
  25. design/produce/send our christmas card early this year.  maybe i should start before thanksgiving.  hmmm.
  26. see more independent films/movies.
  27. buy little sussies, as steph says, which are small gifts for friends.  for no reason. i used to do this a lot, and i miss that about myself.  ha.
